Skyforest and Crest Estates are both areas just outside of Lake Arrowhead,
in San Bernardino County, within the State of California. Both of these
areas are well renowned for the rich variety of architecture, which
displays an incredible amount of diverse charm.
Brief History of Skyforest
The
very first resident of Skyforest was Adam Kuffel, although it wasn’t
until 1923 when Joseph and Mary Henck moved into the area, that the
property market started to move. Indeed, these two people were
primarily responsible for the rising popularity of Skyforest. Mary Heck
was a school teacher by trade. One of the local community schools has
been named after her.
Located a little to the east of
Skyforest is the site which once housed the Santa’s Village theme park.
It was opened in 1955 and was a relative success for several decades
under the management of the Henck family. Being a natural vacation
destination for much of Southern California, it retained a decent level
of profit until the mid 1990s, when it finally closed its doors.
Commuting & Business
The
areas of Skyforest and Crest Estates are both accessible from Highway
18. This helps make these two Lake Arrowhead communities some of the
best for those commuting to areas off the Mountain each day. The most
accessible area of Skyforest contains a small village center, featuring
a smattering of antique shops, a post office and a cafe. A particularly
enthralling aspect of this Lake Arrowhead neighborhood is the fact that
commercial enterprises have often grown from residential buildings,
seeing them converted from homes to business premises. A further area
of Skyforest contains some truly sensational examples of French and
German inspired architecture.
Skyforest Homes & Crest Estates Homes
The
entire area is heavily forested, and the land plots to be found within
Skyforest and Crest Estates are fairly large, some having more than an
acre of available land. The views are incredible from most lots, and
all are within a few minutes journey of the village.
Crest
Estates is a residential community that has no commercial zone, it is
accessed from Highway 173 and close to Highway 18. Featuring a
combination of original wooden cabins dating back to the 1900s and
newer properties, it has a real old world feel and ambiance. If you are
