The
town of Blue Jay can be found in San Bernardino County, within the
State of California. Close by are the towns of Running Springs and Lake
Arrowhead. Blue Jay Village is located upon the southwestern edge of
Lake Arrowhead itself. Access to the neighborhood is from Highway 189.
A Brief Blue Jay History
In
1914, Art and Norma Wixom moved into the area which is now Blue Jay and
erected some Lake Arrowhead vacation cabins, along with a general
store. Later in 1934, a second leaseholder joined the growing
community, Stoney DeMent, and promptly built what would become known as
The Blue Jay Market.
Blue Jay Market was named after the many
blue colored birds that inhabited the area, and the name Blue Jay
stuck, eventually being inherited by the growing township. An
interesting side note, is the fact the actual blue birds in the area
are not Blue Jays, they are in fact Stellar's Jay. Originally the store
incorporated a dance floor in the upper story, although this has long
been converted into hotel rooms.
Modern Blue Jay is home to
some 2,500 residents, and has become a thriving hub of local activity
for the entire Lake Arrowhead area.

The
predominant type of real estate offered in Blue Jay is single family
homes. However, there are a variety Blue Jay homes to explore during
your search. The price range of homes in Blue Jay is wide, starting
from as low as $100,000 with the upper bracket being in the region of

entertainment.
Blue Jay Festivals
Many annual events
are organized within the town, and some, such as the Blue Jay Jazz
Festival, are run several times each year. The Christmas Festival is
particularly famed for its quality, seeing many visitors arriving each
year to partake of the festivities. The town is also home to a 4 screen
cinema, which shows a selection of classic and new releases on a
regular schedule.
Blue Jay Restaurants & Live Entertainment
Dining
out in Blue Jay is a real pleasure, with a whole plethora of quality
eating establishments to suit every pocket. Some establishments, such
as The Royal Oak, combine a restaurant, with a cocktail lounge and a
live entertainment venue. The main dining room offers refined
surroundings and fine foods. Alternatively, the cocktail lounge serves
a myriad of imported beverage in slightly more relaxed surroundings.
The Oak Piano Bar features a resident musician and encourages audience
participation.
The Town of Blue Jay certainly offers the best of
